FOUR years after Singapore beat Malaysia in the semi-finals of the Asean championship, the two bitter rivals meet at long last in a competitive match.
On the eve of the first leg, second round of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers, Lions coach Raddy Avramovic and Malaysia's K Rajagobal expressed hope that both teams would produce exciting football and treat the fans to a good match.
The match has generated much anticipation both sides of the causeway, with all 6,000 tickets at the Jalan Besar Stadium sold out.
Said Avramovic during a press conference at the Amara Hotel on Friday morning: 'It's great to have games like this, the rivalry is really intense and we should have more of such meetings.'
Added Rajagobal: 'It's going to be close. There's alot of history behind this tie.'
The return leg will be played at the Bukit Jalil Stadium in Kuala Lumpur on July 28.
